Hi there, your help would be appreciated.

I have had a serious Spy Sheriff infection ,which I have manage to clense.
I had to run a program Resmit ?? or something along those lines. To reinstate the desktop I have reloaded the luna files from zip file available in forums.

Now however my taskbar is still locked in windows classic mode and I cannot change. If I try the system hangs and I have to reboot. With no effect.

Any ideas ??

Cheers

I think u didnt copy the Luna files propely or maybe the Resouces file u downloaded was not good.
Download Resources.zip (from Kelly's Korner).
While extracting make very sure the destination path of extraction is c:\windows and nothing else (if ur XP is on different drive u can change the letter)

I know it sounds silly, but I have lots of people who have part of Windows in "Windows Classic" (e.g.: one person had the Common Task Pane in Windows Classic and the rest was normal), just because they didnt download Luna from a reliable source, or because they didnt copy it propeply.

O.K I tried that but no luck systems hangs when I try to change!

In the display control panel previous version was XP modified.
Extracted file as instructed then tried to change to Windows XP in display and appearances.

Please wait comes up/screen fades , display properties box comes up all grey except for windows xp in blue then system hangs.

Tried seperately and together i.e desktop and appearances.

Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks for help so far !

Lets look for missing\corrupt System files
Follow the steps below:
Start->Run. Type cmd. Press Enter.
In the Command-Prompt Window, type sfc /SCANONCE. Press Enter.
Follow the instructions by the System File Checker.
(Note:The scan will done on next reboot, so u will be prompted for a reboot.)

Back again.

Ran system checker as instructed. Not sure if worked properly inserted Xp disk when asked and program ran to completion. However no change!

I have checked my windows/resources/themes folder there is a luna folder, and 2 theme files, windows classic 3kb and luna 2kb ,and a windows visual style file luna 3.99mb.

Inside the luna folder there is another windows visual style file luna 3.99mb and a shell folder.

Is this correct ?

Thanks again

Thanks for your help.

But I tried google and found this

http://www.issociate...Properties.html

Apparently the problem is also if you are running Zone Alarm!!
Disabling Zone Alarm will allow to change your appearances/desktops.

Easy eh!

Thanks again :tazz:
