I'm trying to do an XP repair installation, but it is hanging during the "Installing Devices" stage. It claims "35 minutes remaining", but then doesn't get any further, even after sitting overnight and trying several times. The animations are still running, but it really seems to be stuck.

I saw a previous post from someone with the same problem, hanging at the exact same place, but there was no solution posted.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some file or files currently on the C drive are causing setup to stall.
Boot from the xp cd, delete existing C partition, install xp on to the "unpartitioned space". XP setup will create new partition and install xp on it.
