After going throught he hijack this log and fix checked, I shut down but could not reboot into safe mode. Instead I would get a screen that said soemthing aobut chosing where to boot and gave me the options of 31/4 disk, IDE and some other stuff (sorry I can't remember). I did this several times and could not get to "safe mode" .

When I got back on I got an error message for C:/windows/system32/ccadmin.dll, UMonitor.

During disk cleanup my computer suddenly shut down. I restarted and did disk clean up. (note a popup just went by). Then I ran Hijack This again and got this log:

  • Prepare CWShredder:
    • Download CWShredder v1.59.1.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Do not run it yet. We will run it later.
  • Run Symantec's BackDoor Removal Tool:
    • Download the Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool from Symantec.
    • Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.
    • Be sure to save the log file. I will need to see it later.
    • Restart your computer.
  • Run CWShredder. Be sure to click Fix as opposed to Scan Only. It should find some things and remove them.
  • Restart your computer once more.
  • Post a new HijackThis log and the log Symantec's tool gave you.

Okay I ran both of these again (note that I had run them yesterday). Got the response: "Backdooragent B ahs not been found on your computer" and for CWsshredder, nothing would come up on the log but it did say: "Removed from your system: -CWS.Bootconf -Hosts file rediretions.

Here is the latest hijack this log:

This is a difficult infection to remove. Let's start with a process that's sometimes successful.

1. In internet options/advanced, uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions"
2. Boot in safe mode.
3. Run an updated Ad-aware. Use Custom scanning, and check "Scan within archives".All memory and registry options should be checked.
4. Delete all entries in quarantine list.
5. Run HSRemove.exe (Download, Run, Click "Scan and Remove".)
6. Reboot in normal mode.
7. Run HSRemove.exe again.
8. Go to internet options in CP, or right-click ie shortcut. (Don't start ie).
In General, reset homepage to desired URL.

Post a new log when finished. <_<
