Hi,

I have gotten a tremendous amount of spyware on my comp recently- I think it came after I tried to create my own webpage (something.koolhost.com ... don't know the main website off the top of my head). Anyway, I ran Spybot but it said there was an error- and then adaware took out like 46 files.

Anyway, I think I need to take some out with HiJackThis!, so I ran it and here is my log file, please help if you have time,

Thanks!!

Hi geodava and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. If you haven't logged in go to Geeks to Go and do so. Then proceed to item a.

If you already have logged in, go directly to item a.

a. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window.
b. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
c. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from its present location.

4. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Close ALL windows except HJT

B. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

C. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

Please Download the following tools to assist us in removing this infection!
  • Download WinPFind
    • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
    • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
    • Dont do anything with it yet!
  • Download Trackgoo
    • Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
Reboot into Safe Mode

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
  • Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
  • Once the Scan is Complete
  • Go to the WinPFind folder
  • Locate WinPFind.txt
  • Place those results in the next post!
Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up. Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

Regards,

Trevuren

hey, I couldn't get the TrackGoo script to work, but I did scan the computer using winpfind- here is that log:

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

1. Download Pocket KillBox from here. There is a Direct Download and a description of what the Program does inside this link.

2. Open Pocket Killbox and Copy & Paste the entries below into the "Full Path of File to Delete"

c:\windows\gx9fzj83m9.exe
c:\windows\sskb5.exe
c:\windows\ru.exe
c:\windows\pwpuu.dat
c:\windows\rnrkkco.dll
c:\windows\rhraau.exe
c:\windows\bdbaaqr.exe
c:\windows\uiukk.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM\ia.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM\MNCPrgBr.OCX
c:\windows\SYSTEM\eliteerror32.dat
c:\windows\SYSTEM\RXAUI.DLL
c:\windows\SYSTEM\supdate.dll
c:\windows\SYSTEM\obaa.exe

c:\windows\SYSTEM\redit.cpl
C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\nrna.exe
C:\WINDOWS\rhraau.exe

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\exp.exe

As you Paste each entry into Killbox, place a tick by any of these Selections available

"Delete on Reboot"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Click the Red Circle with the White X in the Middle to Delete!

3. Restart in Safe Mode and Run those files through Killbox once more to be sure nothing survived.

This time place a tick by any of these selections available

"Standard File Kill"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

4. Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\rhraau.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AUNPS2] RUNDLL32 AUNPS2.DLL,_Run@16
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [autoupdate] rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SUPDATE.DLL,SHStart
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [exp.exe] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\exp.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

5. Restart back in Normal Mode and Post a fresh HijackThis log!

What we did worked beautifully. I am pleased. Now for the other infections.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
* Open My Computer.
* Select the View menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* In the Hidden files section select Show all files.
* Click OK.

Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

O2 - BHO: CExtension Object - {0019C3E2-DD48-4A6D-ABCD-8D32436323D9} - C:\WINDOWS\CFGMGR52.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CriticalUpdate] c:\windows\SYSTEM\wucrtupd.exe -startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTask driver] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wintask.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\CFGMGR52.DLL,DllRun
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=
O16 - DPF: {16BC6D0F-5945-6C7F-B1E4-104C014AAC57} - http://66.117.37.5/1/rdgUS217.exe
O16 - DPF: {DB893839-10F0-4AF9-92FA-B23528F530AF} - http://deposito.host...ler/1090456.exe
O16 - DPF: Yahoo! Poker - http://download.game...nts/y/pt3_x.cab
O16 - DPF: {15AD6789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windup.../bridge-c18.cab
O16 - DPF: {4208FB4D-4E53-4F5A-BF7A-3E047DDB5281} (ActiveX Control) - http://www.icannnews.../ST/ActiveX.ocx

Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to Start To Safe Mode Using the F8 method in Windows 98/98SE/ME

To start your computer in Safe Mode:
*turn the computer on
*as the computer restarts, press and hold down the Ctrl key until the Windows 98 startup menu appears. (This also works with the F8 key following the same steps)
*Choose Safe mode from the startup menu,
*press Enter
*Windows starts in Safe mode.
*Restart your computer when finished troubleshooting

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders (with all their content), and DELETE them (if they are present):

C:\WINDOWS\CFGMGR52.DLL
c:\windows\SYSTEM\wucrtupd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\wintask.exe

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren

1. Please run the following program:
  • Please download WinHelp2002's DelDomains by right-clicking on the following link, and choosing "Save Target As":
    http://www.mvps.org/.../DelDomains.inf
  • Save the file to the desktop.
  • Then go to the desktop, right click on DelDomains.inf, and choose Install. You may not see any noticeable changes or prompts; this is normal.
  • Then please restart your computer
2. Please RUN HijackThis.

. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=
O16 - DPF: {DB893839-10F0-4AF9-92FA-B23528F530AF} - http://deposito.host...ler/1090456.exe
