Questions about installing Windows XP

Okay...I am currently running Windows 2000. I got this computer from my dads work and it had stuff installed on it like Hummingbird HostExplorer and I cant uninstall it. I want to erase everything but I dont know how. I was wondering If i could install Windows XP on it because when I install it then it will erase everything. Unless theres another way I would probably rather do it that way. It has 260,000 KB RAM. I dont know if thats good or not. Please Help!
