my computer just randomly restarts out of no where, it gets really annoying when your in the middle of something..... argh can someone help me out?

specs:

1. Dell dimension 4550, 2.4 ghz
2. 768 mb ram
3. ge force fx 5500 video card
4. windows xp home sp 2

This happened on my old computer and I re-installed the driver then it worked fine! or maybe try Updating your driver!

still no luck =( man keeps restarting when i'm talking on msn and doing homework its annoying!!

drivers u mean by like video card, ram pieces, sound card? if yes then ya i did it all =(

We need to first figure out whether its a software or hardware problem.
Do u get an error message before it restarts? Or, it just restarts without warning(out of the blue)?

In my old computer it usually freezes first then restarts and comes back saying it was a video card problem! I get that Microsoft Error message!

Actually, a lot of video cards contribute to problems such as these. Make sure you have the latest nVidia drivers, I believe 77.72? Once those are installed, do you still have the same problem? Also, do you have an on-board video card? If you do, I'd try removing the FX5500 and testing the onboard, if it works, then you've narowed it down to the video card.

for the drivers i dont know if i should click on (windows XP / 2000) or (Windows 95/98/ ME). I check my properties of my computer it says "microsoft windows xp home edition"

it says page cannot be displayed =/, ya once the ble screen comes up ill write it down
