Ok. I have a Compaq Presario 3070US Windows XP to start off with. My laptop has many viruses and i came upon your website and tried using the programs offered to get rid of ad-ware, trojans, etc. and looks like it's successful. However when I restart and my settings are loaded, I could only see my wallpaper and nothing else. A couple days ago I found out that if I press Control-Alt-del I actually could browse through my computer with "new task." However I still want my settings back. I lost my recovery disk so I can't fix it that way. Yesterday, I found a post about going into the restore system using the command prompt under safe mode and successfully went back to where it began. i tried using some of the programs again but same result. Could you please help me. By the way, one of the viruses took over my wallpaper and now have a "System Stopped" due to a virus as a wallpaper. Just before it loads up the desktop, It does say a trojan is the a result of it. Is there reason why those programs are having that effect on my computer?

here's one of the messages that appears before the setting load. A fatal error in IE has occured at 0028:C0011E36 in VXD VMM(01) + 00010E36. Error was caused by Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c I suspect this is the virus that's causing me not to see my wallpaper and probably the leading cause of it b'c I see it everytime I turn on my computer just before I sign in into my name to go into my computer.
