Go tools<options<File type and check if .avi is ticked. Uninstalling the pulgin might have changed it.

Besides reinstall the plugin, you might wan't to think about getting a different media player. You see I have seen this before and it is very hard to fix because it is built in to the operating system.
Sorry I can't help but I went through this with someone else and he never fix it despite several pages of posts and many days. getting a new media player will be easyer for every one.

hmmm yeah, i wouldnt even mind that but i tried my winamp to and thats not even working, i also tried divx player but the sound was all jumpy and i tried this BsPlayer and only video works on it no sound, so im at a loss here....

error msg from quick time, she goes like this "Quick Time is missing the software required to display this movie file. Unfortunately, it is not available on the Quick Time server"
