Hi guys!
My problem is similar to the one here:

However I think it's a bit different..since when I ran through the recommnded steps in that topic but I still have some minor problems. Some steps I couldn't complete because the file name/location were different..etc.

Anyways right now my dvd stopped ejecting every minute but still have the picture on my desktop (also changed the theme but nothing....still there).

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode


Doubleclick rkfiles.bat
It will scan for a while, so please be patient.

I'm not finding anything we can attack. Can you review with me what issues you are having currently?

I followed some steps in other similar threads before posting here and what I'm left with is this:

I have a square white rectangle on my desktop (it used to contain text and links) that I cant get rid of no matter what I try. Here's a screen shot of my desktop (desktop_pics1.jpg) when I also right-clicked on the white square.

After clicking on "View Source" from that menu I get the following .txt opening up:

Try this:

• Click Start>Control Panel>Display
• Go to the Desktop tab and click on the Customise Desktop button.
• Go to the Web tab
• In the web page box, click on the page that is checkmarked and then click the Delete button.
• Ok your way out of the dialog and check your desktop.

Nice! It worked!!!
Now I have the desktop as in the attached picture.
How do I make the little dark blue icon backgrounds to be invisible...you know what i mean?

Give this a shot.

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Performance.
4. Click to clear the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop check box, click Apply, and then click OK two times.
5. Close Control Panel.

same thing...backgrounds are still there...it kinda takes a bit too many seconds when I click "Apply"..is it normal?

Hmmm....Let's go at it another way and see if it makes a difference.

Right click on your desktop and select Properties.
Click on the Appearance tab.
Click on Effects.
Put a check mark next to "Use the following method to smooth screen fonts."
Select "Clear Type".
Put a check mark next to "Show shadows under menus".

OK your way out and check your desktop.
