Are you still having the issues getting onto this site? Or was it something that only happened that one time. Also, are you still having the same issues with your computer that you were having when we first began?

Hi!! I was not online much the last few days. However, so far, it has been better but slower to get onto the websites. Also, I get errors on aol if I want to get onto a website from there..saying my aolstp???is not configured with my firewall???zone alarm???
Logging into this site now is fine but this afternoon, I kept getting errors on the top of the page where it would say my name, logged in. I would have to close IE, reboot and try again and again???but it seems fine now.. thanks Maddie

Try disabling ZoneAlarm and try using AOL and IE, and let me know if you notice any changes. Then turn ZoneAlarm back on.

Hi, If I disable zone alarms will my computer be vunerable during that time? :tazz: I know that I have been hacked in the past. What other measures can I take so I dont get hacked in the future? I really need that questioned answered simply because I dont understand how it happens if I have zone alarm on and all other stuff??? I am not crashing at all but it is so slow. I will disable it later tonight and post again. thanks maddie :)

You only need to disable it for a few minutes. Just to see if the speed increases. The chance that you will be hacked during that time is slim to none.

If it is your firewall we can try to work from there to improve the problem.

:tazz: Hi again! I shut down zone alarm and I was able to get onto aol and onto the internet from there without a problem. Also, IE worked fine too!! Sorry I lied, I crashed a few minutes ago and edited this post.. It gave me the IE box again. I was only IE, too! :) :) :)

So what am I doing wrong with zone alarm? I have tried a million times to fix it but it never seems to work right no matter what I do. I also defraged today and ran another spy bot and it came up with 70 new things?? Is that strange? I am sorry if I am a pain. I just dont want to be hacked and if you read my info under my ebay name you would understand...see miracleforme on ebay..
Thanks again for your help. I so appreciate it.. Maddie

Hello, we are going to run System File Checker, to make sure all of your protected files are not corrupt. The scan will automatically replace any corrupt files that it finds.

Click Start
Select Run
At the prompt type sfc /scannow Please note that there is a single space between sfc and /scannow.

Typing this will start the program, and a box should appear telling you how much longer the process should take.

Sometimes the scan will prompt you for your Windows XP disc upon starting the scan. if this happens please make sure that you can view protected files:My Computer
Folder Options
"Uncheck" Hide protected operating system files.
Then rerun the scan. If this still asks you to put in your windows XP CD, and you do not have the CD (If you bought it preinstalled) post back for more tips, otherwise enter Windows CD.

Once the scan is complete:

Check your Windows Updates! After using the File Protection Service, you might need to reapply some updates.

Please reboot, and let me know if anything has changed.

Hi Justin, Hope you day at school went well!! I had the cd for the computer and used it as directed. I did walk away while it was running when I returned it was done and there wasnt anything left on my screen :tazz: I am assuming it was fine.

I went to windows to update. I have no critical updates but 7 others that I can do. I didnt do them yet. Should I?

I did crash on IE a few times however not since running sfc. I also had put in a ticket for zone alarm to see what they said. I will attach that to this post. I havent done that yet. So this is what they wrote. It seems confusing..is there an easier way... ughh.. thanks again, Maddie

zone alarm ingo:
I understand that you are having issues getting to web sites after

There may be a problem with your TrueVector service. ZoneAlarm is
dependent on its TrueVector service to function properly. You may
need to refresh the files associated with this service, especially
after a networking change, OS change, or ZoneAlarm update. First,
check in the upper right-hand corner of the ZoneAlarm Window. You
should see an All Systems Active message in green letters (to the
right of the lock). If the panel is displaying All systems Active
and ZoneAlarm is still not functioning properly, it is possible that
some files have become corrupt.

To repair this problem, please follow these steps. Please note that
this will remove your program permission settings (so you may want
to make note of them), but re-establishing them is a simple process.
If any of the steps below does not apply to you, or you are unable
to perform the function listed, please continue to the next step.

NOTE - Beginning with ZA+/ZAP version 4, you can create a Backup
of your settings, and then restore them afterwards. See the local
ZoneAlarm Help files for specifics.

1. Reboot your system into Safe Mode. The method is determined by
your OS but normally either pressing F8 at the beep, or holding the
control key during boot up works. For more information on rebooting
in Safe Mode, click Start, then Help. Click the Search tab, and
type in SAFE MODE
2. Open the Internet Logs directory (in 98SE/ME this will be
c:windows\internet logs, in 2000 it will be c:winnt\internet logs,
in Windows XP it could be either of these folders). If you need to
keep a copy of old alerts, copy the ZAlog.txt file to another
location first - then delete ALL files in this folder.
3. Empty your Recycle Bin.
4. Reboot your system.

If my answer did not resolve your issue, or you would like further
assistance on this issue, please reply to this email. By replying, and
leaving the subject line intact, your response will come directly to me. If
you have a separate issue you would like assistance with, please submit a
new request using the website at http://www.zonelabs.com/tsform.

Thank you for choosing Zone Labs Security!

Are you still having issues getting to websites? If you arent, then there is no need to deal with ZoneAlarm.

Play around on IE, and see if you get any crashes over the next 12 hours or so, and then let me know.

Could you please take a picture of the error message that you get when IE crashes.

To do this, when you get the error message press the Prt Scr button.

Then open Microsoft Paint anf press Ctrl V

Save the image and post it as an attachment to your next reply.
