lose birghtness on my radeon 9800 pro

wheever i paly games i have my radeon control panel (not catalyst) and i have my brightness to a certain level so i cans ee in darkness and wheever i alt-tab out or anything like that then i lose my brightness level.. anyway to keep it at the level its at even if i alt-tab otu oranything?
