Hi roxetrach and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Excal and I will be helping you.

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted

I can see that you have some malware issues. This maybe a few step process in removing it. I encourage you to stick with it and follow my directions as closely as possible so as to avoid complicating the problem further.

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there,Please run the following tool, NewDotNet Removal tool.

(ONLY if you can't find the New.Net in Add/Remove programs).

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet.. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

Double click on hijackthis_sfx.exe, Chose Unzip. (then you can close that box)

(this is how you will get to HiJackthis from now on)
Go to Start then to My Computer> then to Program Files> then to HiJackThis. In the HiJackthis folder you will see a file called HiJackthis.exe.

Hi Excal,

Thanks again for your help. It is greatly appreciated. I did what you instruct me to do. When I removed the Newnet applications it said that the program had already been unstalled. The when asked if I wanted to remove it from the program list I said yes" I hope this was the thing to do. I reboot my computer ans i Still have the winfix ballon on the right hand side of the bottom taskbar. Willl I ever get rif of this evil program!!!

The newdotnet is not related to the winfixer, it was a seperate infection you had. Please post me a HiJackthis log and we will clean up the winfixer.

Thanks,

I am assuming that you had uninstalled newdotnet. If not, please try again. then do this.

A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.

1. Please download LSPFix from here.
2. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
3. Check the I know what I'm doing box.
4. In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of newdotnet6_38.dll
5. Select every instance of newdotnet6_38.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
6. When you are done click Finish>>.
7. Reboot and please post a fresh HiJackThis log.
