hi,

I have a really weird problem that I am finding hard to get a solution to...

I have Macromedia's Flash Player installed on my computer..

When I try to run a *.exe (a game in this case) that it stored on my desktop, it goes straight to the standard Microsoft "Send" or "Don't Send" box...

The .exe file works perfectly fine on the other computers around our office but not mine!!

I have tried reinstalling flash player and shockwave player, rebooting, everything I can think of!

The error report was:

Macromedia Flash Player 7.0 r19 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

AppName: minicliprally.exe AppVer: 7.0.19.0 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: ffff031b

ARGH!

Thanks for any help!

It could be a compatability issue between your computer and that version of Flash Player. Try installing a different verison, preferably a new one. I think the latest is 10. You can also try a Windows update if that doesn't work.

I have tried installing v. 5+6 with no success...
Do you have a link or anything towards v10 or a windows update because with my research i couldnt find any better than v7 (maybe v10 is pay software) and i have no idea of what kind of update you mean...

Thankyou for replying!

You're right: 7 is the latest. I must have been thinking about Shockwave player.

To do a windows update, here's the steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. Click on "Tools" in the menu bar.

3. Click on "Windows Update"

4. Follow the prompts. (Choose Express install and install all updates.)

If the update doesn't help you, do this:

1. uninstall whatever Macromedia Flash Player(s) you have.

2. Download CCleaner, found at http://www.snapfiles...t/ccleaner.html

3. Install it. Run it.

4. In the menu to the left, uncheck all the boxes under the "Internet Explorer" section EXCEPT for the "Temporary Internet Files" box.

5. Click on "Analyze" (since this is your first time, it may take a while)

6. Click on "Run Cleaner"

7. Reinstall the latest Macromedia Flash Player.

If that doesn't work, it could be Internet Explorer settings, or it could even be spyware. Scan for spyware with Ad-aware and remove any found. Try your game again.

Post back and let me know how it goes.

Hope I helped. :tazz:

I have tried your suggestions, but nothing has changed..

I have tried a spyware scan with ad-aware and webroots spy sweeper but those freeze. adaware freezes in the registry, spy sweeper in my boot.ini.

thanks for your help so far

I see...sounds like a nasty infection. Follow these instructions before you contact an expert on malware:

Read this first

After you have read and done all of these suggestions, if you still have problems with your computer, you can go to the Malware forum and post a Hijack This log so you can receive help from an expert on how to clean your computer.

Take care. Hope all goes well for you. :tazz:
