while downloading xmas gifs, the "Open with" menu dropped down and I opened up in notepad, now all my floppy discs, and all the things I have in My Documents open up in Notepad, there must be a way to get out of this, but I cannot find it

Did you try uninstalling Xmas GIFS or deleting it. I guess I'm unclear whether it came from a floppy or a CD or off the internet.

Did you download it to my documents?

You probably had a drop-down menu that gave you a choice to open it with. At the bottom, there's a box that says "always open with this program." Make sure that's unchecked.
