I press that, and nothing happens. I then have to push the power button to shut down. I reboot (after 15 seconds) and just get a black screen, with no printing on it.
I push power button again to shut down. I reboot (after 15 seconds). Get a black screen. I push power button to shut down, and reboot. Same black screen, with no printing on it. I then unplugged the computer for 20 minutes, plugged it in again, and rebooted, and I get the same black screen, and have to turn power off again.
For a couple of weeks, the desk top would come up when I unplugged the computer from the wall, plugged it in again and booted up. But it will not do that now.
I put in a Windows startup disk, and still the black screen. I put in a Windows XP disk, and the black screen. Anyone know what is going on? The monitor is an older Mitsubishi, but it has been doing a good job. If it was the monitor, wouldn't there be some subtle problems at first, instead of just going out on me?
This is a computer I gave to my daughter about five months ago. I use it a lot when I go to see her. She lives in the same city as I.
The computer has all of its updates, both Windows, virus and spyware.
Thanks much,
Anna Ruth
