Hi guys!
I see I'm not the only one having problems with this WinFixer thing. I run different spyware programs regularly, I have MS Antispyware and Norton installed, but somehow this annoying WinFixer popup is still there whenever I open up IE.

Just a little suggestion: maybe you could create a sticky with basic steps that need to be taken by all WinFixer victims?

Hi Cretemonster! Thanks so much for helping me!

I run into a couple of problems while following your steps. First, when I started KillVundo, it killed all applications, and all I could see was the background of my desktop. I waited for about an hour, but nothing hapenned and HiJackThis never started. So I had to turn off my pc and turn it back on. Same thing hapenned when I try to run KillVundo for the second time.
Then I ran HiJackThis manually, and I don't think it deleted everything.

Use the link I gave in the last post and download a new version of Vundo.Zip!

This time after you download the zip file,please right click and select extract all!

This will extract all the files in the zip folder!

Then follow the Instructions again!

I deleted and re-downloaded a new version of vundo, extracting all, but the same thing hapenned! I start it, it kills all of the processes and does nothing for the next hour, and I am forced to turn off my pc and turn it back on to correct it. Maybe there is another issue (spyware, malware?) with my PC, which does not allow for Vundo to work as you described above?

Scroll that list and locate this entry

Machine Debug Manager (MDM)

Right Click that entry and Select Properties-> Click Stop-> Go up and change the Startup Type to Disabled!

I followed all the steps, downloaded the fix, extracted all the files to system32, restarted in safe mode and tried to run vundo again, but the same thing hapenned - it just froze and hijackThis never got started.

Locate-> keyav.dll

You may need to be in Safe Mode to see it!

Once located,Right Click the Desktop-> Select New-> Compressed(Zipped)Folder

Place a copy keyav.dll inside the Zip folder but before you close the folder-> go up and click File-> Add a Password-> make the password "infected" (all lower case)

Please download Process Explorer by Systernals from here

Also download KillBox by Option^Explicit from here

Then boot up in SAFE MODE

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of keyav.dll once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of the keyav.dll's under winlogon click OK.

Also look for any .ini or .bak files or other dll's with either the same name or the file name in reverse & kill them as well.

Record the name of any of these files found so you can remove them in the steps below.

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of keyav.dll then click the kill button.

I was able to follow all the steps, the only problem is that in the Process Explorer there was no process explorer.exe, so I couldn't get to its properties. But anyways, it looks as if I was finally able to get rid of those 2 processes. Here is a fresh HiJackThis log:

What should I do with the vundo.reg file I created (I already clicked on it and it merged with the registry)? Should I cut it and paste to a certain folder or just delete it?

You can delete the reg file and the vundo fix as well!

I kinda like process explorer so i keep a version of that on my PC but you can get rid of it and killbox if ya want!

Killbox made a folder on C drive labeled !Submit,you can delete that as well!

Lets get rid of that 015 as well!

Right-Click Here and Click "Save As" to download DelDomains.inf to your desktop.

Right Click DelDomains.inf on your desktop and select "Install"

It will perform a silent process>Give it a minute to run!


Lets have one Online Scan and be sure all is well!
