[Stradders]

We have just purchased 20 new Fujitsu Siemens S7020 Laptops. All with SATA controllers etc. I have the SATA controller drivers and have made the relevant floppy disk.

On starting the XP installation, I hit F6 and select the correct controller from the list. The install continues. Select the partition to install on fine. Format Hard drive fine. Then as it is about to copy the install files, it asks for the intel application accelerator driver. Just hit enter - screen does not change. created the disk with the app accelerator files - hit enter again - stays on the same screen. I just cannot get past this point. I was at work till nearly midnight last night, and am very close to throwing this laptop off the top floor.

Can anyone help at all ?????

The Steps 1 and 2 can be skipped if you use the F6 Floppy
disk utility provided by Intel. This utility can also be
downloaded from the following website. These methods
are applicable to systems configured for RAID or
AHCI mode.

1. Extract all driver files from the installation package.

2. Create a floppy containing the following files in the root directory:
iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat,
iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,

3. At the beginning of the operating system installation, press F6
to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver.

4. When prompted, select 'S' to Specify Additional Device.

5. When prompted, insert the floppy disk you created in
step 2 and press Enter.

6. At this point you should be presented with a selection
for one of the following depending on your hardware
version and configuration:

- Intel® 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)
- Intel® 82801GR/GH SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)
- Intel® 82801FR SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH6R)
- Intel® 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)
- Intel® 82801FBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH6M)
- Intel® 82801ER SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH5R)
- Intel® 6300ESB SATA RAID Controller

7. Highlight the selection that is appropriate for the
hardware in your system and press Enter.

8. Press Enter again to continue.

mm, that process is exactly what i tried. once the drivers are loaded and once setup completes formatting it stops when it tries to copy the install files. It is then that it asks me for the Intel Application accelerator. Followed the readme file exactly as it stated......

Found out what the problem was -

It was that the USB floppy drive is not compatable with the new laptop. Comunication fails with text based transmission.

Brand new floppy drive and it works.

I have to say, I never reply to tech boards, but man this thread saved me.

Did that hit the spot! Worked like a charm. We had older USB external drives that were geeking mid XP install like described above, bought a new external USB drive, Lacie 706018 and it worked like a charm. Thanks for taking the time and posting this fix.

Same thing here! I tried it with our 2x sony usb floppy.

It Asked for the Intel Application Accelerator Driver
or Intel Matrix Storage Driver if you used the newer floppy version.

Then I tried a newer sony usb fdd drive and no problems at all!
(Fujitsu Siemens S7020)

I was also stuck with the installation asking for the Intel Application Accelerator driver, me hitting enter again and again and then creating new diskette, all in vain.

This thread solved it for me. I was using an old USB-floppy-drive. Now I'm going to buy a new USB-floppy-drive.
