Hwy guys, does anyone know how i would make linux automatically execute scripts or programs upon a user logging in?

I want to do this so a user doesnt have to hit startx every time they boot.

You say you don't want them to have to type in "startx" so I am assuming you want the GUI (KDE, GNOME, etc) to load upon reboot?

If so, you need to edit your /etc/inittab file and change the runlevel:3 to runlevel:5. That will initiate the GUI interface.

thanks man, except its booting with gnome as opposed to the default which is KDE (???).

Anyhow, i still need to know how to run other scripts and stuff post login?

Well that's a bit distro specific, which distribution are you using?

To change the default window manager on slackware:

xwmconfig

And startup scripts in slackware go in /etc/rc.d/

You can place your own commands in /etc/rc.d/rc.local
