hey
my friends pc is messed up its currently running windows 2000, when she restarted her pc it came up with choose "safe mode or normal mode" all the time and when she clicks on either one of them it says "install windows" and when its on that screen it just shuts down the pc . she cant even use her drives .she doesnt want to reformat her pc and loose all her data on the harddrive so what can she doo.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. Do you have a Windows 2000 installation CD? You will need a bootable cd like the install cd or a set of W2K floppy start up disks to troubleshoot. M$ has a page devoted to W2K and lots of troublshooting articles there. I also found
