Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. I would start by going Nero support and looking for a software update. They do post software patches and updates from time to time. If they don;t have a software patch, contact their tech support by the web page/email interface.

Did Nero work before, and then just stopped? Did you download any software or make any changes to your system? Nero won't work well with other programs installed, like Roxio. There may be others as well....

nope, I have all updates and patches and cleaners and all. Nero is the only program I have installed right now. And yes, it just quit working all together. I updated my firmware for my old burner and then no more. Then I upgraded my burner then my nero and still after a format and reinstall, nogo

does it give you an error right away? or do you start the burn and walk away and come back to an error?

what it'll do is, fill up the used read buffer, start the lead in, then go to 1% then the burner will spin up, light comes on, then the lead in buffer goes to 100% then starts, burning the disc, then the lead in buffer bounces up and down, then the used read buffer makes it slowly to 49% and then it gets to 3 or 4% and then it fails. Everytime. I checked the disk and it has a little written on it, but nothing viable to access later.

I think I figured it out! I saw alot of stuff about DMA floating around the forums and I used the nero info tool to check the status of my drives and noticed DMA was off on my secondary master drive. I had 4 drives all ide, I just took off the secondary slave 2 days ago. Apparently, if you have two drives on different ide channels jumped wrong everything will come out in the wash as ok, but when I took that other drive off, everything was fubar. I rejumpered muh primary slave and presto, I'm at 47% and my buffers aren't dancing around like a bunch of circus midgets, err I mean little people. Thanks anyway Geeks.

open up you case check the jumpers on all of your drives then go to your bios and make sure that everything is listed corrected. MAke sure that in fact that your master is your master and your slaves are your slaves. After that boot up xp and check to see if DMA is on using the nero info tool and if not go to the device manager and then IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and check both the primary and secondary IDE Channels to make sure that DMA is in fact on and if that all fails it could be anynumber of things, all of which are easy to fix and all I'm willing to help with. edit email if you need help. parishdm on aim.

I had the same problem i ve search on internet for ansuer and nothink, the whole think is related to this registering key
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives\Volume{4c0ecd26-47f1-11e0-a7ca-806d6172696f}]
to make it work first you have to del this key Volume{4c0ecd26-47f1-11e0-a7ca-806d6172696f}
in regedit and then import the new one attached here if it dosent work to download create your owen reg file with this value:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives\Volume{4c0ecd26-47f1-11e0-a7ca-806d6172696f}]
"Drive Type"=dword:00000002
"CurrentCDWriteSpeed"=dword:ffffffff
do not restart the pc cozz it will bring you back to first value or some other value as i experienced and you will start again from where you were.Start the burnig in nero and all your problems are over.
