fired up the dell (p4, winme norton 2004) and began getting messages that system resources were low. In the task manager, I found a slew of programs marked as unknown or pop something or other -- dozens of them. System locked.

Started computer in safe mode and recieved an error message that wininit.dll was corrupted or missing. When I tried to run Norton, a message popped up saying that it could not be run because wininit.dll was missing or damaged.

tried to run a spyware program and was told it could not be found.

Tried to run system restore several times and it failed.

I think I'm screwed. Any suggestions?
