Problem is basically described in the topic, Windows randomly freezes. The system can be up for 4 hours or 5 minutes, but it ALWAYS freezes. System is brand new, I've updated all the drivers from the manufacturer's web sites (even upgraded the bios), and the problem persists.

I'm assuming that since I have a nforce4 chipset and a Radeon video card, that is my problem, but I'm not completely sure.

Here's the system specs:

AMD Athlon XP 64 3000+
ASUS A8N-SLI MB (Nforce 4)
1gb OCZ PC3200 RAM (matched 512mb dimms)
4x Maxtor 160gb SATA HDD's RAID 0+1
ATI Radeon X300
Pacific Digital DVD Drive
Using onboard sound
Antec case w/ 450 watt PSU
Windows XP Professional SP2

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

try that...then if you can loook for any messages in your event viewer that correspond to the freezes....

I'm sorry, I included it in my first attempt to post (but my comp froze), but the first thing I did when I had a net connection on this 3 day old comp is download spybot, ad aware and solo antivirus. I've found no malware or spyware on the system and there are only 3 things loading on startup that I've chosen myself (tried disabling but it didnt help).
