I recently upgraded my cpu...new motherboard/graphics card/ram/etc. The problem is when I boot up my cpu, both of my CD/DVD drives ARE detected at the BIOS screen, but NOT in windows. In other words, when windows boots up and I go to my computer, I can see my hard drive and floppy drive, but no CD/DVD drives. I 've checked and double checked the jumper configuration over and over again (I even tried some incorrect configurations), but nothing has helped. I have a catch 22 situation; I can't install the drivers for my new motherboard and devices because my CD/DVD drives aren't detected. A friend of mine put the cpu together and installed Windows XP SP1 on it (and he couldn't figure out why it didn't work). I have both CD/DVD drives running off a single IDE cable (brand new); the Master Drive is a LiteOn Burner and my slave drive is a Compaq DVD-ROM drive off my old computer. I even tried running both drives off a separate computer and they were detected and worked flawlessly. I'm guessing it HAS to be something with my new motherboard or its configuration. I've also tried running each CD/DVD drive off it's own IDE cable and still nothing. I've also tried setting the CPU to boot off the CD/DVD drives, but they don't show up in the screen (I think it's CMOS) where you can set the boot order (floppy, har drive, RAID, or CD/DVD drive). I'm truly going nutz with this problem - I've searched the web and found people with very similar problems, but they never got replies. I want to know if there's anything I can do before I shell out some cash I decide to take it to a technician. Please help!!!

Just to re-iterate, these CD/DVD drives worked fine in my old CPU and worked when hooked up to a different CPU as well so there can't be anything wrong with them - can there?
