Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon (looks like a target) and click on Security Agents Status (Enabled) and click on Disable Real-time Protection. To re enable it, you follow the same steps but click on Enable Real-time Protection.
(Note: We will re-ENABLE them later after your system is all clean and malware free.)

Please SAVE THIS PAGE or secure a PRINT COPY of the instructions for reference.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Do NOT run the scan yet!

Please close all remaining windows, disconnect from the internet, open HijackThis then click SCAN. Please put a check on the following items listed below:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp...rch/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Yabdgzf] C:\Program Files\Iueii\Zlopon.exe

Make sure to double check the items you have selected, then click Fix Checked.

Reboot in SAFE MODE. (How to boot in Safe Mode...)

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

reboot back in NORMAL MODE.

Have an On-line scan at this site: Panda Scan, save the results then post.
  • Open HijackThis
  • go to Config, then Misc Tools
  • Open Uninstall Manager, then click Save List...
  • Post the results here
  • close HJT

Now on your desktop double-click findpf.bat then post the results in your next reply.
(NOTE: You can delete this file afterwards.)

THESE ARE OPTIONAL FIXES, startups not necessarily required:

Please close all remaining windows, disconnect from the internet, open HijackThis then click SCAN. Please put a check on the following items listed below:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe

Checks with Sun's Java updates site to see if newer Java versions are available. Visit  http://java.sun.com or just run the Java Plug-In Control Panel

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

Used in connection with memory dumps - you can disable these by - right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on the Settings button in 'Startup and Recovery'. In the bottom pane - under 'Write debugging information' - click on the down arrow and then select 'None' - OK your way out

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

Application Scheduler installed along with RealOne_Player Once installed, it runs independently of RealOne Player. Also see evntsvc and Realsched. Note that eventsvc.exe no longer appears to be in a newer version. To disable "tkbell.exe" in the new version (1) Start RealOne Player (2) Tools -> Preferences (3) Automatic services in the Categories pane (4) Uncheck all options and then OK

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

System Tray access to Apple's "Quick Time" viewer from version 5 onwards

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msnmsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe" /background

MSN Messenger utility. If you don't use MSN Messenger, this can be annoying. Available via Start -> Programs. Go to MS Messenger > Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck "Run this program when Windows starts"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\ypager.exe -quiet

Yahoo! Messenger allows you to send instant messages. Available via Start -> Programs

O4 - Global Startup: QuickBooks Delivery Agent.lnk = C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks2\Components\QBAgent\QBDAgent.exe

Make sure to double check the items you have selected, then click Fix Checked.

Reboot in SAFE MODE. (How to boot in Safe Mode...)

Through Windows Explorer, delete the following folder(s) or files(s) if they exist (in bold):
  • C:\PROGRAM FILES\Spyware Stormer\ <-- whole folder
  • C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\Totem Shared\ <-- whole folder
  • C:\WINDOWS\STWSI\ <-- whole folder
Finally, Empty Recycle Bin

reboot back in NORMAL MODE.

How is your system running, are there any problems? Your log looks great!

Please post back a new hijackthis log.

Thanks again kool808! IT seems to be running much faster and I don't seem plagued by spyware!!

I checked the boxes you suggested in HJT. Do I also have to do things like go into MSN messenger and uncheck "Run this Program when Windows starts"?

HEre's my latest log - thanks for all your help.

Update and Clear Java Cache:

1. Click Start > Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Java icon (coffee cup) in the control panel. It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon - please find the update button or tab in that Java control panel. Update your Java, and reboot.

After reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java icon.

3. Under General Tab, click the Settings button.

Under the Delete Files there are three options on this window to clear the cache - put ALL 3 a check mark.
1. Downloaded Applets
2. Downloaded Applications
3. Other Files

4. Click OK, then click Delete Files
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.

5. Click OK again to leave the Java Control Panel.

Congratulations! :) your system is CLEAN!

WinXP Reset & All-Clean1

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
* CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
Next, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)1. Turn off System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
[/list]System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
You should also have a good firewall. Here are 3 free ones available for personal use:and a good antivirus (these are also free for personal use):It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visitmonthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scannersweekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.
