omg..today i was cheerfully on my computer listening to music when it suddenly froze and left me no choice but to reset it. When it was booting up an error message displayed on the black screen saying "A disk read error occurred". When this happened i was so freaked out and went to my bros computer to get some help from the net. I found out u can use the xp cd which had the recovery console's "fixboot" tool to repair it. But after i made the new boot sector it still didnt work, so i decided to go back into the recovery console. When it was booting from the xp cd and came to the part where it said "checking for system configuration", it just left a black screen and wouldnt load anymore.

I am so scared that im going to loose all my precious data because of this problem im facing and i hope someone can help me recover my hardisk and comp. It meanss so much to me. :tazz: =(

Thankyou.

Try these in order

To start Windows XP System Restore from a Command Prompt

To repair Windows XP – Use the instructions for Windows Installation CD to repair the current installation, last in list. This method leaves the data and programmes alone.

To recover a corrupt registry which prevents Windows XP from starting
