I have an IBM T20 which i purchased with no operating system on it.I installed XP home with no probs and all was fine for a while but now it will not boot up.An error pops up "0271 CHECK TIME AND DATE SETTINGS" and then goes to the BIOS settings. But on the BIOS settings none of the function keys work so therfore cannot change anything. Is there any way i can start in safe mode or command prompt so i can format my hard drive and start again :tazz:

At what point of booting up do you get the error message? If you can get to the Windows Logo Screen, you will be able to enter safe mode.

Boot the PC and keep tapping F8 until you get options, select safe mode with command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r then press enter, type Y to confirm for next boot, press enter then reboot

It will take an hour
