Well I was having trouble with popups about 3 weeks ago and ran thru the Malware forum and everything worked good after that.

Since then I tried to update AIM and install my scanner and now it is really dogging when I boot. It literally takes about 15 mins to boot.

AFter it goes thru the Dell and Windows logo screen it just sits there with a blank screen for about 5 mins. Then when i log into my profile it takes another 5 mins. Then I get my desktop and then it takes another 5 mins to load the task bar and icons.

Hello Connie and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

You have quite a mixture of malware and Trojans that need to be eradicated. Let’s see what we can do with the first sweep.

Firstly could you please disable WinPatrol from running during the fix, it may just hinder our attempts to change anything.

To start please download the following programmes, we will run them later. Please save them to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:

Killbox by Option^Explicit
CWShredder
CCleaner
Hoster
cwsserviceemove.reg file

Now please install CWShredder, and run it. Click Check For Update, then Fix and then OK followed by Next, let it fix everything it asks about

Please run Hoster (just double click it to open). Choose the Restore Original Hosts button and press OK.

Right click on this link Del 015 Domains.inf and choose Save (link) As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.rr.com/flash/index.cfm

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Please now reboot into safe mode. Here's how:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap the F8 key. A menu should appear where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Unzip cwsserviceemove.reg file to your desktop. While in safe mode, double click on it and grant it permission to add the registry items.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel (if present):(click Start>Settings>Control Panel)

MyWebSearch

Please notify me of any other programmes that you don’t recognise in that list in your next response

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Please delete this folder (if present) using Windows Explorer:

C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\

Close Windows Explorer

Please install Killbox by Option^Explicit.

*Extract the programme to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the programme.
*In the Killbox programme, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\lpsgkl.exe

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "Yes" at the reboot now prompt..

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Now we must hide the files we revealed earlier by reversing the process, this is an important safeguard to stop important system files being deleted by accident.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, update it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, Analyze, Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds. Also click Issues then Scan for issues – fix selected issues

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I will take another look.

Hello again Connie

Thanks for that info

Please continue with the fix.

Download Find Q.zip to your desktop

Find Q.zip

Extract the files inside to C:\ That will create a folder called Find Q , open it and run the batch file find q.bat

It must be extracted to C:\ or it might not function correctly

This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONRES.CPL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DATADX.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JAAND.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SSSJDSS.DLL

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "Yes" at the reboot now prompt..

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

How is the PC running now? Please post a fresh HJT log.

my machine is running alot better. I turned off my power bar last night so nothing was on. I turned it on this morning and it booted very quickly. I guess it needed a cold boot. I will run the Killbox though and run a new HJT.

Here is my log. Well I just rebooted again. I think part of my delay in the boot is the printer I have. I have an HP photosmart 7350. We were having trouble with it losing connection all the time and we would have to try to print the same thing over and over. After troubleshooting by reinstalling the drivers, reinstalling the usbs, etc.. I found a thread on this forum in the hardware section that said that some usb printers need a hub for their own power supply so they won't disconnect. That is about the same time we started having problem with the booting taking so long is when I plugged in the usb hub. I'm not sure how to trouble shoot that. any ideas?

Thanks so much !!!

Connie

Hello again Connie

Two entries need fixing, but before we do that, I note that both WinPatrol and Ewido are running in real-time. Please disable both for the duration of the fix as they may just hinder our attempts to change anything. Ewido running is caused by the background guard being enabled.

Now please install CWShredder, and run it. Click Check For Update, then Fix and then OK followed by Next, let it fix everything it asks about

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.rr.com/flash/index.cfm

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Please now reboot into safe mode. Here's how:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap the F8 key. A menu should appear where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Unzip cwsserviceemove.reg file to your desktop. While in safe mode, double click on it and grant it permission to add the registry items.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and I will take another look.

Hello Connie

I have just checked your latest log which shows that both Ewido and WinPatrol are still running, but worse than that Qoologic is back, or perhaps it never went away.

Hello Connie

Please ensure that both Ewido and WinPatrol are disabled for the fix.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DATADX.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JAAND.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SSSJDSS.DLL
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\NAIK.EXE

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "Yes" at the reboot now prompt..

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Please post a fresh HJT log for scrutiny.
