Yeah, I know what those are.

By the way, I updated to SP2 and installed microsoft's anti-virus program. It found Surfsidekick in 3 different locations and killed it along with two other malware programs.

Thought that was interesting. It seems like the only fatality from all this virus junk was that I get kicked out of a gamae I usually play, America's Army. Punkbuster kicks me now, something to do with this:

ScriptLog: HC::TM() KICK NOTIFICATION: <players name> has been kicked for an undefined reason: YOU HAVE BEEN KICKED VIA PUNKBUSTER (FOR 0 MINUTES) ... RESTRICTION: INADEQUATE O/S PRIVILEGES

I uninstalled and re-installed the program but it still wont let me past punkbuster.

This is a link to the information regarding the problem, still not sure why I cant get in.

Forgot to add, thanks for all the help trying to get rid of that bugger, I really do appreciate it!

You're welcome - glad to help :tazz:

The issue with the game appears to be this:

To understand what is happening on your PC, there are various policies that control privileges on your PC. Spyware, trojans and virii change these policies so that they can control your PC and have the proper privileges to work their malicious activity. The unfortunate outcome is they often turn off or remove certain admin privileges inside the policy to prevent them from being removed. When this happens, PB can no longer function correctly with admin privileges to scan various areas inside the O/S. When this happens you receive the following kick message.

It's not related to the game, it's related to the structure of Windows and how that has been affected by the malware you had and removed. This is getting into a very complex area. Try uninstalling Punkbuster and reinstalling to see if it recognises your current configuration.

Let me know.

Otherwise, to help keep you clean follow the recommendations in Tony's article here:

So how did I get infected in the first place?

I'll leave the topic open a while longer for you to get back to me regarding the game.

I'm sure I can figure out the game/punkbuster situation by going to that support website.

I was looking through the HJT log and noticed this:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

Just wondering what that is? I see your name in it.

Pure coincidence :tazz: It's associated with your nvidia card, see here:
