Welcome, lyletech.
After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print out the instructions here (or save it in Notepad) so that you can follow along more easily.

Before starting any cleaning steps, please disable the Microsoft Anti-Spyware real-time protection:
  • Right-click on the Microsoft Anti-Spyware tray icon by your clock (it's the one with the red and yellow bulls-eye).
  • Click on "Security Agents Status".
  • Click on "Disable real-time protection".
Next, open Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
  • Click on the Options menu, then Settings.
  • Select "Real Time Protection" from the left column.
  • Uncheck "Enable (MSAS) Security Agents" and "Enable real-time spyware threat protection".
  • Click the Save button.
Finally, Right-click on the MSAS tray icon, select "Shutdown Microsoft Antispyware", and click "Yes" in the dialog that comes up.


Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
  • Exit ewido. DO NOT scan yet.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

  • This will create a new folder on your desktop named dsrfix.
  • Do Not open that folder yet.
Please download APT and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.
  • Open the folder you just created and click on apt.exe and search in the window for C:\WINDOWS\System32\guebjop.exe.
  • Open your C:\Windows\system32 folder and search for guebjop.exe.
    Don't delete it yet, just leave the system32 folder open so you can see the bad file.
  • In APT again, Select C:\WINDOWS\System32\guebjop.exe and Click Kill3
  • Then immediately delete guebjop.exe from your system32 folder.
Close APT.


To reboot into SafeMode with Windows XP, you can follow these steps from Microsoft:

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, start tapping press F8 key.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe.
Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish".
Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.


Now open ewido and do a scan of your system.
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

Close all open windows except for HJT, then click the Fix Checked button. Close HJT.


Now open the folder dsrfix on your desktop.
  • Double-Click on dsrfix.bat
  • A window will pop up briefly then close, this is normal.
Enable show hidden files and folders:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK


Now using Windows Explorer find and remove the following folders/files(if they exist):

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\dsr.dll <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ymlkksa.dll <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\System32\guebjop.exe <-- File
C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\ <-- Folder


Now run the CleanUp program:

*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Now place a checkmark next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
    • Delete Cookies
      This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Prefetch files
    • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click OK
  • Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
  • When asked to reboot system select No
  • Close CleanUp
Finally, restart your computer back into Normal Mode and please post a new HJT log, as well as the ewido report log from the Ewido scan by using Add Reply

Hi joshuacat, i really appreciate your help! I have begun to complete the list of tasks that you last posted, but i have already run into some trouble. I disabled all the security features, shut down Microsoft AntiSpy, downloaded and installed the ewido security suite as instructed. When I try to open the ewido program though, the application window opens for a split second, and then closes. Basically it seems as though something terminates the program before it can even begin to run. I don't know if its relevant or not, but i do have spybot installed on my computer also, just so you know.

I am hoping that once you go into safe mode you will be able to run Ewido and complete the steps in order as instructed above.

I don't see SpyBot's TeaTimer running, so you should be OK with that.

Hey JC, i did what you quoted, sorry for missing that before. I did download the different programs that you gave links to, however, the link for the nailfix utility doesn't seem to work. Just for kicks i tried the link on a separate computer and it still wouldn't display the web site. On a side note, i just recently decided that i need to completely reinstall the operating system on this computer. In light of this, is it still necessary to troubleshoot this virus? Im not planning on keeping anything through the reinstallation. If so, i wouldn't want to be wasting your time here.

It depends on whether you are doing a complete format and installation, or just installing XP over your current installation.
If you are installing XP over your current installation, without formatting, the infection will still be on your computer.
If you format and install a fresh installation of XP, there will be no traces of the infection.

Although, you will still want to take precautions to make sure that you do not get hit with an infection again.

I will leave it up to you. Let me know either way.

By the way, it appears that the site for the Nail Fix utility is back up.

OK. Im just planning on installing a fresh version of windows after formatting, not just because of this virus, for other reasons as well. Hopefully this will ultimately settle this problem, im sure using firefox from here out will also significantly improve security. Thanks again for all your help!
