This is as good a place as any to post that up here. Unfortunately PS2s have a OS with little user interaction and no bios or post as in a standard pc tus makng it impossible for us to diagnose a problem with the hardware from an internet post. The only way to find out what is wrong with it would be to take it to your nearest sony dealer if it is still unser warranty they will fix or replace it for you if not you are probably going to either pay to get it fixed or get a new one(often the cheapest choice).

Well there could be a million different reasons for it just failing to start unless there is a specific circumstance or some other indicator of malfunction then im afraid there isnt much we can do. Like i said the warranty will cover it if it is still valid otherwise you are stuck with the sony shop. They do eventually kick the bucket, especially if it was one fo the first batches made.
