Hi there everyone!

My website is http://www.allsortshop.com and on my toons page and my games webpage i need counters. But not just any old free counters of the internet, i want a counter that i can put on my toons or games page, but the counter counts the number of hits of another page.

So basically it is counting the hits of 1 page but the counter is actually being displayed on another page.

I need this because on my toons and games page, underneth the game or toon. I want it to say: Toon viewed ( this many times ), Or game viewed ( this many times ). So the counter is being displayed on the toons page and counting another page.

PLEASE WILL SOMEBODY HELP because i really need this.

Thanks!!!

There are all levels of webpage counters available, you just have to look around to find what you want. You can get them to put on each individual page, for the whole site, to count file downoads, etc.. some are free, some not. Some have banners or icons, some don't.

Has anyone heard of the thing called mysql?

Is it a database where you can see how many page hits your website pages have had?

I have mysql but does anyone know how to set it up to count page hits on lots of different pages?

I don't know anything about MySQL, but if you're still looking for a counter, you can try this cgi counter I found. I attached the zip file, and there's instructions in the readme file. I think it can only display hits on the page it's placed on, but you can always just put the counter on the toon page, not the main page.

does your server support php? the reason for the question - a friend had problem with javascript on a website. the problem was non-portability - IE, netscape, and firefox needed custom code. if you can use php, it only has to work in one place - on the server(in theory).

so, if your web site supports php, I would be happy to send code.

attached is a file I/O tester. refreshing the window should increment the counters.

if the counters work, then we can procede with counting from other files.
