I put thermal grease on my P-4 cpu and installed it in the MOB that was working, does not boot up now, so I used another MOB with the same CPU the same thing.
Well I went through 2 other Pent-4 CPU's as well as 2 other MOB.
I noticed the grease was on the CPU pins, the grease is of a silver color.
Did I fry them or is there a chance the can be cleaned up. I would assume the MOB is unrepairable {grease could have gotten in the holes where the CPU is installed}, you fellas are the pro's let me know, before I go to Comp USA and get them {CPU} checked out for some $$$.

you can probably clean the grease off the proccessor....but you're right...it will be very hard to get it out of the holes in the socket....gotta be careful with that stuff

Thank you, I will try the grease removal with some alcohol, I purchased a new motherboard from ebay, I have 1 in my garage I think once I clean it I will get back to you guys to let you know what is happening. Once again Thanks, I might have a chance of not having a total loss.
