networking my Pc to my laptop

i want to transfer files from my laptop to my PC without using the internet or disks. i have a cable in the ethernet ports of both but i can't create a network. it will say "connected" but the setup wizard wont do diddlysquat. :tazz:

are you using a crossover cable or just plain network cable? if you are using plain network cable, go get a cheap network hub from your local store, then you shouldnt have any probs with it.
