Hi, I have recently been noticing pop up ads on my computer after letting my daughter use it the other day. Ad-Aware and Norton removed a ton of problems, but still the pop ups have not gone away. It seems to be from ODp and lop and many others I'm sure, and after downloading their uninstallers, the problem is briefly fixed but arrives back within hours. I then noticed that my computer apparently recognizes that XP was reinstalled and is giving the tutorials again, and changed my backround to standard... however there is still my icons and programs installed, but the start : programs have been narrowed down. If you could just help me figure out who is doing the spyware, and how to remove them and possibly prevent them in the future, that would be greatly appreciated. Also any downloads that would be better than adaware would be a plus as well. In XP this problem is only effecting my name, all though there is also ad aware problems on the other log in names. Will this solution fix the whole computer or just the current one? Anyway here is my Hijack-this log and once again I appreciate your patience and support!

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Boot into safemode to do this keep tapping F8 on your keyboard while your PC is starting up you will get a menu select safemode.

Open Ewido again
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.

Reboot and Post the report Ewido made and a new Hijackthis log here in a reply.

Please Download the following tools to assist us in removing this infection!
  • Download WinPFind
    • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
    • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
    • Dont do anything with it yet!
  • Download Track qoo
    • Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
  • Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
  • Once the Scan is Complete
  • Go to the WinPFind folder
  • Locate WinPFind.txt
  • Place those results in the next post!
Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Download Pocket KillBox from here. There is a Direct Download and a description of what the Program does inside this link.

Open Pocket Killbox and Copy & Paste the entries below into the "Full Path of File to Delete"

F:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\70tovmto.ini
F:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\a.dll
F:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\s.dll
F:\WINDOWS\system32\p.exe
F:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\a.exe

As you Paste each entry into Killbox, place a tick by any of these Selections available

"Delete on Reboot"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Click the Red Circle with the White X in the Middle to Delete!

Restart in Safe Mode and Run those files through Killbox once more to be sure nothing survived.

This time place a tick by any of these selections available

"Standard File Kill"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] F:\WINDOWS\system32\p.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE F:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Restart back in Normal Mode and Post a fresh HijackThis log!
