Hey guys, I am on my moms computer right now because mine apparently won't really turn on anymore. Here's the problem:

I don't do anythign in particular and my computer will just freeze up, restart, or just have all squiggly lines on the screen. It's 1 of those 3 that happens all the time. When my computer tries restarting, it will like keeps turning on and off extremely fast for some reason. Here is what I have done to TRY to fix it, with no luck:

Reinstalled Windows XP Pro
Took out CD Roms drives, sound card, video card, internet card.

None of these helped. At first I thought it was my ati radeon 9800 pro, but when I took that out and used my integrated motherboard video card, it STILL did the same thing. So I know it's not my video card.

I really need help fast. Here are some specs of my computer

Windows XP Professional
512MB PC2700 Ram
AMD XP 2800+ CPU
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB Video Card

XP installed okay. This is an HP machine I bought from Best Buy, so I don't see why they would of given me a bad power supply. I have had the machine a year and a few days now. Im so confused.

Power supplies can just go out even when they're a year old.

i had a power failure at my house a few days ago, and i had a belkin power surge protector. My computer worked fine after the power was back on and everything, but now it has the problems im telling you about. So I unhooked my power supply, and the ends are all black and messed up. Now the Belkin company is sending me claims forms and its going to ask how much $$$$ I need to fix it. I need to find out if my motherboard is fried too or not. But it's good to know I had that power surge or else this would come out of my pocket. Sheeze, $100 bucks for a surge protector IS worth it. And I thought it was a money waister. Woohoo!
