I have an old (6+ years) Aptiva & can't get all the data off & just reload - also am not sure I actually have all the necessary software to do that anymore! I know that sounds silly but, with 3 kids & dealing with cancer, I haven't really paid a lot of attention. The only 2 cd-rom's I have are the Aptiva Product recover & diagnostics AND the Aptiva Applications.

Y'all helped me before & I have installed & now faithfully run Spybot Search & Destroy, WinPatrol, Spyblaster & the Norton Systemworks 2004. However, when it comes to Ad-Aware, I run it & then remove what it tells me & then can't access the internet or programs....I am lost. So, I restore the removed items & all works. Slow as molasses in winter, but it does come up.

I get messages on restart that I am missing the apitrap.dll file for some program that I don't even recognize. Would it help to include a log from HJT? If so, and there are things that need to go, I will happily remove them. So, I'll include it & hope I can keep this running until sometime in the future when I can replace it.

Any help you can give me would be truly appreciated. You helped repair a friend's computer last week & it is running beautifully & faster now. Thank you so much for that! I know y'all are good at this. Sorry to be so ignorant about this stuff, but you've already taught me more & I am willing to keep learning!

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

Hi blueskieswoman

You have a number of randomonly named files on your system. We like to start with an online virus and trojan scan. Even though you have antivirus software on your system, it can become corrupted by malware.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

Pandasoft
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Bit Defender
http://www.bitdefend...can/licence.php

What version of ad-aware are you using

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and we'll remove what's left.

Thank You
