Can someone please check my Hijackthis log. My computer and internet are running slow. My computer is a Gateway P-4 1500, 640 megs of ram, 20 G hard drive 7200 Radeon 32 meg video card. My Internet provider is Cox cable. I'm running thru a cable modem and a Linsys-G 2.4 wireless and wired router. My computer is wired and was running fine. I suspect some virus or spyware. I am running Cox's security suite...antivirus, firewall, and anti spyware and popup blocker. I have run Spybot, Ad aware, CleanUp Ewido, and Registry Mechanic. This has helped but it's still not running up to speed. And I know at one time I had "winn tools" spyware. Here is my Hijack this log. Thanks "wirenut"

I tried the things you said but it didn't seem to help. I've decided to try another tack and install a new hard drive because my 20 G is full and this may be part of the problem. I bought a 80 G western Digital and am planning on starting over by formating and starting fresh with Xp. this should get rid of anything I have that's giving me problems, and give me a fresh start like buying a new computer. any thoughts as to what security software I should install? Cox Cable my internet provider has a security package which includes firewall, popup blocker, and anti virus. I was running this before but still had viruses get thru. I also run Anonamizer which supposedly keeps you anonimus when surfing the internet. Any thoughts as to how I should proceed would be helpful, again thank you. wirenut

I run a free anti-viral and a firewall. I also scan with adaware every few days and have spywareblaster installed. I don't know anything about anonamizer. Is that how you spell it? Give me the exact name and I'll look into it.

I also don't download music and I don't open attachments or browse sites that may be harmful.

Good luck with your efforts. I'll check out that program if you give me a link. :tazz:

I spelled it wrong it's "Anonymizer Total Net Shield" WWW.anonymizer.com
It's online identity protection. I heard about it on a radio talk show, and tried it. I went to one of those security sites that test your security and they said my securtity was very good because they couldn't tell who I was! Anyway I will install my new hard drive along with a new copy of XP Home. I will stay with Cox's security suite since it's free. I have a little boy who goes online to nickoloden and other kids sites and that my be where the trouble came from. anyway should I also run AVG and Adaware? I've heard running more than one antivirus is not good. Thanks for all your help. wirenut

Even though Cox has an anti-viral, you still need one IMO.

Sorry for the delay, I have been very busy with work as of late.

I would let anonymizer go.

I think it would be a good idea to run Grisoft/AVG in conjunction with what Cox offers. I am not sure what they offer at their end but I'm always cleaning up a friend's computer and she has Cox. :tazz:
