Hi,

I'm trying to get some viruses, or whatever, off my parents PC.

Here's what happens after booting up:

Icon (red dot with exclamation point) appears in the task tray that says "Your Computer is Infected".

Blue icon appears in task tray that says "180searchAssistant"

WinFixer2005 spash screen launches and seems to start scanning.

An error message window "Psguard has called an error in Kernel32.dll" comes up.

Seceral error message windows "Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. This is needed for your Active Desktop" come up.

A window titled "PSGaurd: Viruses and Spyware Remover" comes up behind WinFixer screen.

WinFixer 2005 - Not Registered window opens up.

The the desktop begins flashing back and forth between Active Desktop Recovery and wallpaper that says "Warning your computer maybe infected."

All this happens before I can even get to the Programs menu. So I can't even run AdAware, SbyBot, or CWShredder.

Help!

We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and reply here with your log.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
