I'll be playing or doing something with sound and then it will just disappear and not work. Also sometime it will say the driver isn't there and won't work... then I restart and it works again till it craps out. Also my speakers started getting bogged and slowed down and getting all slow and crappy then gets fine again. I don't know what's going on. It's horrible and annoying as [bleep] n

Hmmm how would I go about fixing loose wires in a laptop and I did re-install drivers. Now it seems like my system is just bogging down completely and I don't know if that's from the audio aspect or the system.

Being a laptop, something could have worked loose whilst on the move

This will take over an hour so run it when you do not need the laptop

When these have been run succesfully, if there is no change then you would need to look at hardware errors

To check for a couple of things, click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and get a blue bar, after the bar goes, reboot.

Click start then run, type chkdsk /f /r then press enter, type Y to confirm for next boot, press enter then reboot.

This will take an hour, it will appear to load normally then either the monitor will show progress or the screen will go blank, do not disturb this.

When it gets to the desktop, the system files and the hard drive will be as they should

Ok Keith n Company,

I gave it time to see how this would go down and here's what I hear and see.

1. When I use my sound in general for just progams outside of my browsers this is what happens.
a. It'll work for it seems as long as I like
b. It'll have times where it bogs down and sounds slow and mushy like someone slowing down a record.
c. When I'm playing in game it'll hear a mechanical dinging noise and my sounds will all just completely bog down and my mic will run interference and the other players can hear it.
2. When I use sound in Firefox or IE the sound works then stops working and cuts out then when I try to use sound anywhere else it says "A program is currently using your sound" and won't work till reboot.
3. When I was on Teamspeak program and had the voice activation set to speak instead of pressing a button, my mic would stay on with a static noise sounding like morse code.
4. Sometimes when I'm listening to a song it will just stop producing sound. I can flip onto another song and it'll work fine and go back to the same song and it works too. So the song will play and sometimes exhibit the other symptoms too.

I believe that is all I can think of/noticed.

If you have a soundcard

Boot the Laptop then keep tapping the delete key to enter set up, check you do not have onboard sound enabled

Ok I'll try that sorry never got a notice sent saying there was a response. Will come back and tell you how it turns out. I also get errors with explorer.exe and dr watson post mortum debugger which I don't know if that'd affect the sound but here's what I got.

Actually to be honest I've not done anything to mess with the sound. It just happened one day out of the blue. I will double check though.

I tried to do what Keith said it's not helping. I don't even know it just cuts sound out still. My system is bogging down and just blah.
