Like the title says adaware has found stuff and cleaned it, trendmicro has done the same thing... both say its clean but spybot still finds around 80 or so problems but when you tell it to fix it exits to the desktop instead. both from safe mode and full windows.

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall some programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

Download LQfix.zip
Unzip it and save it to your desktop, don't use it yet!!

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.EXE 1

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A doswindow will open and close again, this is normal.

Open Add or Remove Programs (click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control panel. This should be the 3rd item). Uninstall or remove the following items -

MBKWBar - Toolbar
AWS
WeatherBug

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

Folders
C:\Program Files\MBKWBar
C:\Program Files\AWS
C:\Program Files\AdTools Service
C:\WINDOWS\EliteToolBar

Files
C:\WINDOWS\msbb_gdf.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ide21201.vxd
C:\WINDOWS\woinstall.exe

Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log.

okay well everything went fine till I got to the add/remove programs. first of all aws was NOT listed anywhere. Then when I tried to remove weather bug it locked up the computer. I rebooted to safe mode and checked and it was gone from add/remove. I then continued with the manual delete. Elitetoogbar directory was not there.

here is the updated log:

Fine we will leave it then.

Lets fix one big resource hog on your PC -

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Let me know if you have any issues with your PC ???

thanks for catching that ( osa ) i thought I removed that before I ever started this....

Do you think I should uninstall spybot and reinstall it before trying it again?

Not required. Spybot should not interfere. If it does, then just shut it down and fix the entry.

No need to uninstall it

Well I tried running spybot again and it found 70+ things to clean and when I told it to fix again it just dumped back to the desktop. Maybe i need to reinstall spybot?

Nope it closes like you clicked the x button and doesn't remove the stuff it found. then if you scan again it finds it all. Before uninstalling spybot it was detecting about 75 or so but now that I've reinstalled/updated etc it finds 38. I don't know how to get spybot to give me a log...... I don't have a printer and that is the only way I see to get a record of anything.....
