I posted this at some ungodly hour of the morning and no one has responded as of yet.
So, here it goes again...

So I am working on this system, and as soon as i get it booted up, I get alerts from Spybot concerning several browser settings obviously being hijacked by some malware. Then an alert from MS Anti Spyware stating that DSrch is attempting to install to startup. so I block it, remove it, and run full system scans with Spybot, Ad Aware, and MS anti spyware, and run a complete system Virus Scan with AVG which finds several viruses, including Poller.exe, Nail.exe, AgentM, sbcproc.exe. So I have figured out that I have several extremely pesky virii on this system. As soon as everything scans clean, I boot into safe mode, and scan again. As soon as I boot back to windows normally, there are all the same alerts, telling me the browser is hijacked and all these pesky bugs are back. I give up at this point as far as figuring it out on my own. Here is my Hijack this log.

hi Guse! Thanks for the quick response. I turned off all antispyware, and AVG from running at startup. and rebooted, and here is what I got. The processes look clean, but notice the hijacked browser entries in the first few registry keys...
Before posting here I had followed a set of instructions from another post on here dealing with Aurora and Nail.exe which seem to have been eradicated by doing so.
This was the posting.

Let's do some cleanup, though, just in case. Run HijackThis and place checks next to the following items:

See if an entry exists for (it very well may not), and if it does remove it:

Ok! So I followed your instructions, and there is no entry for SideSearch. I did a search and found 3 references to Lycos SideSearch in another user profile on this machine. Is this the culprit that keeps changing the browser settings when the machine is rebooted?

Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop:

• Create a new folder on your desktop
• Unzip/extract the files inside that folder you created on your desktop.
• Open the folder and run FindIt's.bat and wait for notepad to open a text file. It may take awhile so please be patient ...
• Then post the results here along with a new HJT log by using Add Reply

In the future, here are some suggestions to keep your computer more secure.
Use a firewall - If you’re on a broadband connection, this shouldn’t even be an option. You can get a good, FREE firewall from ZoneLabs called ZoneAlarm here.

Make sure that you keep Windows up to date - Microsoft is constantly releasing updates to plug holes in their OS. It’s a good idea to take advantage of these as frequently as possible. As a matter of fact, if you’re lazy like me you can set Automatic Updates by right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties . Then click the Automatic Updates tab, then click the Automatic radio button then click OK.

Make sure you have an up-to-date virus scanner – This is super important. Heck, it typically doesn’t even matter which one that you use… just pick one and keep it updated. A free virus scanner can be had from Grisoft, called AVG. Get it here.

You can also get a more secure browser – Not a necessity at all, but most exploits are manufactured to attack Internet Explorer. For the time being, browsers such as Opera and Firefox aren’t nearly as exploitable… yet.

Practice safe browsing – Just some run of the mill things to keep you safer. Don’t open email attachments even from people you know unless you know the attachment is coming. Try to stay to larger websites… it’s the smaller… less public ones that typically give you trouble (*this isn’t to say NEVER go there, just minimize it*). Also, try to stay legal: warez (stolen software) and file sharing apps (Kazaa, Torrents) tend to have grotesque amounts of spyware associated.

These are just some helpful tips. Enjoy malware-free computing!

Thanks again. By the way...I had to rerun Hijackthis and fix the same items for each user profile on the computer. But every profile logs on with no spyware or virus alerts, and gives me a clean hijackthis scan now. just curious...Is that normal?
