I think you hosts file should be here

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

Right Click My Computer and Select Properties!

Click the Remote tab and See if there is an entry for Remote Desktop Sharing and try to disable it that way!

I am really unfamiliar with the program but you should be able to go through the list in MSconfig and Use the WIndows Search Feature,do a search on each entry in msconfig and see if you can determine which is the tray icon!

Click Start-> Run-> Type in Services.msc and Click OK!

Scroll that list and locate this entry

Machine Debug Manager (MDM)

Right Click that entry and Select Properties-> Click Stop-> Go up and change the Startup Type to Disabled!

Click Apply-> OK and Exit the Services Page!

The above steps will disable the machine debug manager which is a uneeded headache for about 99% of the average users!

Let me know if this helped out??

I have moved the hosts file to C:\\windows\system32\drivers\etc

and followed the other instructions.
One thing i noticed is that internet connection has become very slow. ( No popups though )
There is a software in my ADD/REMOVE programs named OIN.

any suggestions on that.

Give it a day or 2 and see if your speeds pick up any at all!

Internet speeds are so inconsistant, its a chore to figure what cause slow downs!

When was the last time the PC was Defragmented?

Have you ever run a good registry cleaner on the pc?

Im with you,I havent a clue what either of these are

GSIM

OIN

If they just appeared and you didnt put them there, then they probably should go!

I just dont know what they are!

Look through your Program Files folder and see if there is any weird or unknown folders under Programs Files and Under the Common Files Folder!
