Hey,

I keep getting the dreaded "blue screen of death" when i start windows. It almost always has a different reason, so i cant focus on one thing. I have been doing some research on it and have come to the conclusion that it has to do with drivers installed on my computer, but i have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me out with some info on this, all well as driver problems? I have attached a hi-jack this log, in case this does have something to do with it. Thanks

Hi not again3x, welcome to GeeksToGo

Firstly, I noticed that you have items disabled from startup. Please reenable everything in msconfig (Start>Run>type msconfig) under both startup and services and then reboot. Then proceed with the following fix, you have many infections on that computer and this will most likely be a several step process to clean them all.

BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below and download the files from the links provided. You may want to save or print out these instructions for easier reference.

First, download Ewido Security Suite.

Next, download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and the VX2 Cleaner Plug-in. Install Ad-Aware using the default options, then install vx2cleaner_inst.exe, taking all the defaults there as well.

Run Ad-Aware, update to the latest definitions, then click on Add-ons in the lefthand column. Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK", then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.

Reboot your PC and run Ad-Aware again. This time, click on the Start button in Ad-Aware, select "Perform smart system scan" and click Next. Once the scan finishes, click "Next" again. Select all objects found (right click anywhere in the list of found objects and click "Select All Objects"). Click "Next" one more time, then "OK" to confirm the removal.

You will be prompted to set Ad-Aware to run on reboot, click "OK". Exit Ad-Aware and restart your PC once again.

When Ad-Aware starts up, click on "Start", then "Next". Follow the steps above if anything is found, or click "Finish", then exit Ad-Aware.

For a final cleanup, please install and run Ewido.
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
Please finish up by rebooting your system once more, and posting a new HijackThis log and the log from the Ewido scan.

Are you still in the safe mode? Do you mean safe mode with networking? You shouldn't do that, you have an internet connection without any protection.

Please give Ewido a second go and save the report. I need to see if Ewido detected something but didn't succeed in deleting.

Also, the HijackThis log I need to see from normal mode, what processes are running..and don't forget to reenable all items in msconfig..

thanks again Armo....here is my HJT log, in regular mode, not safe mode with all processes reenabled. They still wont allow me to attach an ewido log, i can paste it, but its almost 15 pages long. If you want, I could email it to you as an attachement. Let me know.

Armo, everything was running good again this morning, and I took that last HJT log in normal mode with everthing enabled. I just ran Ewido again, it came up with over 1000 infections. I cleaned them, than I got the BSOD again. I am now in safe mode again. Please help

Please save these instructions on Notepad as you will have to do some copying/pasting in safe mode.

Firstly, download this virus removal tool to your desktop.

http://www.f-secure....tools/f-bot.exe

Turn off your antivirus and double click on F-bot.exe to run the tool. Reboot when done.

Download and prepare these programs for use:

Download CWShredder Here.

Update CWShredder
  • Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
  • Click Check For Update
  • Close CWShredder
Please download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.

Boot into safe mode- NOT WITH NETWORKING!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

If Cleanup! asks if you want to reboot, click NO

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Copy and paste the text in the box below on Notepad and save it on your desktop. In notepad go to File>Save As. In the drop down box at the bottom choose "All Files" and name it Fixservice.bat. Then double click on Fixservice.bat to run it.

@ECHO OFF
cd %windir%
sc config batt start= disabled
sc stop batt
sc delete batt
attrib -s -r -h C:\WINDOWS\System32\batt.exe
del C:\WINDOWS\System32\batt.exe
exit

Open HijackThis and click Scan. Put a check next to these:

6) If the computer doesn't reboot by itself, reboot manually.

7) Reboot back into safe mode and run Ewido one more time. Save the log, hopefully it won't be so long this time.

8) Reboot back to normal mode and go here to make a virus scan:

http://www.pandasoft...com/activescan/

Let it remove what it can, and save the results as a text file.

Then come back and post a new log (normal mode), Ewido log and Panda results.

Thanks again Armo...attached is the ewido log and the panda scan came back with no infections :tazz: ....im up and running in regular mode with no problems so far. Quick question though, most of the infections reported by Ewido started with "mozilla". Is my firefox browser messed up, or is Mozilla even reliable at all. From what Ive heard, its much safer than IE. Thanks again

Good job, I wasn't expecting this much improvement in one go..

All Ewido found in Firefox is cookies..

In Firefox go to Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies Press clear to clear them all. Then click on the arrow to expand it and put a check next to " for the originating website only"
Note that next time you visit this site you will have to sign in.

In IE go to Tools>Internet Options under the General tab delete cookies and temporary internet files

Then delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\support.com\backup\co

Now there is this one file remaining in your running processes, but it doesn't have a relevant entry in HijackThis. We have to find where it's loading from.

Download http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe. When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to scart scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

Copy the text in the box below to Notepad. In Notepad go to File>Save As. In the drop down box at the bottom choose "All Files", name it Fixit.reg and save it on your desktop. Double click on Fixit.reg to merge it with the registry.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform]
"ESB{D1E82D26-7825-475E-998B-0AFD70595092}" =-

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\fggmxftn]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"stsagn"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"mbbzt"=-

Open your task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and in the processes tab endtask this:

d3kuiext.exe

Please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot".

Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\d3kuiext.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Dan Driadon.DAN\Application Data\Sskcwrd.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Dan Driadon.DAN\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\stsagn.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mbbzt.exe

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt. If the computer doesn't reboot by itself, reboot manually.

Then post a new HijackThis log.
