Video Playback Issues

To start with I have had recent problems trying to install an unsigned driver
for an optical mouse that ended in a bsod. I doubt this is related but just to
keep everyone up to pace. Since then I have also installed Radeon Omega
Drivers set for my Radeon X300, and de/reinstalled my codec pack (K-lite).

The problem that I am having is that all of my video playback software is
just giving me a black screen with audio, no video. Since this happened I
have reinstalled DX9cr, and lowered the overclock on my gpu back down
to stock. I discovered earlier today that when I use Media Centers built in
video software program (not MediaPlayer) that I am able to view my video's
perfectly. When I try to view the same video's under vlan, bsplayer,
MediaPlayer I still have just a black screen with audio.

Any suggestions, recommendations?

Sony Vaio RA845G
Media Center 2005 SP 2
Pentium D 2.8 ghz
1gb RAM (unknown)
ATi Radeon X300 128mb
