is there some setting I can alter to avoid the Windows notes that Iím getting when I start MS programs?
It looks like security warnings are the culprit.

examples:

when in word: "the file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature. since you are running under high security level, these macros will be disabled"

when in excel: "compile error in hidden module: utilities"
and: "compile error in hidden module: initialization"

when in outlook: "the file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature. since you are running under high security level, these macros will be disabled"

is this a windows or office problem? hope someone can help

this is an office issue, but not a problem.

You can alter your security settings for the word and outlook....but in the case of the latter, it is preferable that the issue be addressed

the excel error sounds like a vba module that has run amiss...who provided you with the files?

it does it when opening excel, not necessarily with a file.

the titlebar of the error message says "microsoft visual basic"

i get the initialization message obviously when i start excel

and the utilities one when i close it.

i tried all steps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307410 there and had no luck
