Take a look around Version Tracker and get what looks good to you.
Good place for Mac-related news / info: Mac/.ORG
As always, you can also Google it: "mac freeware"

freeware:
definetely try to widgets - there's over 1200 now!
um... try versiontracker.com/macosx and macupdate.com
there's alot, even on www.download.com (but go to advanced search and select the mac operating systems)

o my god!
welcome to the family!
i have an imac g5, and also a powerbook g4
i love mine 2.
well u know tht you have a built in microphone right?
okay, on the downloading side-pretty much everything you already have ex.itunes, photo software,
if you need word, and exel and powerpoint just purchase it from a store. they give you 5 keys so you can install it on 5 computers.
dont worry about a virus protector-you probably know macs dont have tht many viruses.
if you want buy some good speakers to go with it,all apples have a sound card built in.
i have the bose companion 3 wow what great sound.
well if you have any questions feel free
ps. go to dashboard and check out some widgets, there are many to download!
and again welcome to the family

If you like iTunes but are annoyed by the lack of artwork when searching for a cd, then check out this
http://www.sprote.com/clutter/
It pulls the cover off of Amazon so you can pick what you want to listen to by the album cover. I love the thing!
