Ok
I had trouble with blue screens and games crashing. I thought it could be a memory error so I ran memtest on both my sticks, there were some errors on one stick but the other had none. I took one out, but still games would crash or i'd get a BSOD.
Next I decided to replace my power supply as it was pretty crappy. I installed that today but i'm STILL having problems. Every single game I play crashes at one point or another. For example, Half Life 2 I can play for up to 30 minutes sometimes, other times I can only play for maybe 5 minutes before it crashes. Doom 3 crashes as soon as I move in the game. Every other game i've tried either crashes or comes up with a 'memory could not be read' error :tazz:
I've had nothing but trouble with this computer

Or in the case or warcraft 3, it doesn't crash but just exits to the desktop without an error message.

Try the Video Card in a Different PC if it does the same then the problem is your graphics card and not your system :tazz:

But if it was my video card wouldn't I get errors all the time instead of only when I play games?

ok you said you took out a memory stick... did you take out the one that was bad?

also if you are using the nvidia 6800 then you will need to update your gart driver. see your system board manufacture for it.

when the game crashes does it generate a specific error message? does the system blue screen? If we had the specific codes it would help.

Here's the error I get on Half Life 2 (and all source games, CSS, garrys mod etc) The numbers sometimes differ.

The instruction at "0x241f94f7" referenced memory at "0x00c10c00"
The memory could not be "read"

Hmm I just ram memtest on both sticks again and it didn;t find any errors this time. Could it be a bad memory slot on my motherboard or something?
