As i said in Post#9, the layout.ini sometimes also conatins info. abou programs that are un-installed and these simply take extra place in the layout.ini file.
So even the layout.ini file has to be cleared after sometime.
And to aviod the slow boots till it is re-created, you can use the commnad in Post#9 to immediately re-create it.

There is only one command and that is Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks do not know what other command you could be taking about could be. As darth ash said you must have the Task Scheduler service running. To make it easy I made a file in notpad called Layoutini.bat with the following text in it that dose the whole thing for me.

rmdir C:\Windows\prefetch\layout.ini
net start task scheduler
Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks

The first line deletes it the second starts Task Scheduler and the last line remakes it.

So I just create a Notepad called Layoutini.bat with the following text and it works?
rmdir C:\Windows\prefetch\layout.ini
net start task scheduler
Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks
Where do I save it?

Any where where it willl not be lost.
You can just run the commands by them selves but if you make that file and dobble click it it dose it with no use input, and you don't have to type it every time you deside to do it, and you don't forget what to type.
