Hi all, can you help me with a few issues please.
1/ When I connect to the internet on my infected pc, I get pop ups, one in particular refers to a spurious looking "downloading updates from microsoft"
2/ within a few minutes of being connected my pc does a memory dump
3/ AVG reports trojan 5.l, but healing, removing and deleting do not stop it
4/ in documents & settings, local, my main folder keeps duplicating its self, ie mark smith becomes 2. mark smith and mark smith. abcd123, (or something similar) this is where a file i believe called msdirectx.sys (or something similar) seems to reside. Other files that seem to show lots are "etb" "omi" and "hide_nt63" (or something similar).
5/ I could not run Hijackthis without renaming it to "123Hijackthis" and then failed to email to my self at work. I have attached the logfile from a HJT whilst running in safe mode.....don't know if this will be of anyhelp.
I have run the following checkers and removers
AVG
Ad-Aware
Spyware Blaster
Spybot

many thanks in anticipation

Hi all, I think its getting better, but i await your better judgement on that :tazz:
here is my HJT log after following all instructions on advice page.
AVG still finds a file called msdirectx.sys, and I now have 2 replicants of my file Mark Smith in documents and settings.

thanks again
