This thing is/was totally loaded with spyware, adware, trojans, etc. Hundreds have been removed, but every Ad-Aware scan finds at leats one more. could someone review this log and give me hand tracking down what ever nastiness is left? I see some suspect items in there, but would like advice. Thanks.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad . Make sure to work through the steps in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fix.

• Download DSRFIX from HERE onto your Desktop.
  • Unzip and EXTRACT the files to your Desktop.
  • The program creates and names the new folder to house the files.
  • DO NOT RUN IT YET
• Download Cleanup from Here (Alternate site if the above is not working Go Here)
  • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
  • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
  • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
  • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
  • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
  • Click OK
  • DO NOT RUN IT YET
• CLOSE INTERNET EXPLORER, if it is open
  
  
  
• Open the folder dsrfix
  • Double click on the dsrfix batch file( the one with the little gear in it )
  • Once dsrfix has completed it will close on its own
• Run Cleanup
  • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
  • Once its done, close the program.
• REBOOT your system.
  
  
  
• Please restart HJT and post back a fresh HJT log for review.

Having issues now with it losing USB devices (i.e., mouse or memory stick) on screensaver and not being able to identify them till after a reboot.

Me thinks it may be toast.........

Currently in SAFE MODE logged in as local administrator.
Ran Ad-Aware (AGAIN) and it found 8.
Running AVG (AGAIN) right now and it found Trojan horse.Downloader.Intexp.c.
Sorry, make that 6, it is still running........

Might not be bad now, but I have already removed around 700 of them between
Ad-Aware,
Spy-Bot,
Symantec Antivirus (which found NOTHING!),
AVG,
Trojan Hunter,
Trend Micro's web scan,
and I can't even recall what else.
No matter what I do, there is still more.

I have disabled Windows Restore also.

Still waiting on AVG to finish so I can try your suggestions.
Add a pair of Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic.CW to the 6 it had found before.

Download and install CleanUp! Here
but do not run it yet.
*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker

Now run Cleanup make sure it is set to standard cleanup

After that, Reboot.


One more scan to run that will get most everything that doesnt show in the hijack log

I had already downloaded Cleanup and run it per your previous instructions.

Ran Hijackthis again and check what you said.

Rebooted into Safe Mode, but can not open Control Panel.
Tried 3 times and I'm just about to toss thing out a of second floor window into the rain.
It just sits there..........

Ok, it has been hours and I still can't get to Add/Remove Programs while in Safe Mode.

Booted normally.
Add/Remove Programs: e-bates is NOT listed.

Uknowns: Odyssey Client, Viewpoint Manager

Boot inot Safe Mode

Ebates not there.

Run both commands. No error messages.

Hey, it seems you may have found it all. Didn't get any pop-ups, the mouse seemed to work, and it actually seemed like it might be ok. It has gone home to its user and I should hear today if it has any other issues.
